Day 2 Itinerary: Conquering Table Mountain and Discovering Nature in Kirstenbosch

Cape Town: mountain table views from cable car
Table Mountain

Morning: The Heights of Table Mountain

Start your day with an unforgettable experience: the ascent of the iconic Table Mountain. This majestic rock formation offers panoramic views of the city and the ocean.

Choose between hiking trails for the adventurous or the cable car for a more comfortable climb.

At the top, explore the trails, visit the visitor center with information about the geology, and relax in a café with spectacular views.

I must confess that my experience on Table Mountain was not the best. We did not buy tickets in advance, and the line was endless. After waiting more than an hour, which seemed like an eternity, we finally boarded.

But the adventure was barely beginning. Suddenly, the cable car stopped, swaying violently in the strong wind. I was sweating cold! After five minutes, which felt like hours, the equipment started working again, and we continued our ascent.

Lastly, the fog completely covered the view, frustrating my expectations!

Important Tip

  • Pay attention to the weather forecast, as clouds can hinder the view.

  • Book your Table Mountain cable car tickets in advance- skip the lines and make the most of your day.

  • Take a coat, as it is windy and cold up there.
