USA Itineraries: Cities, Road Trips and Wine Country
You do not have to see the United States in one trip. I stopped trying years ago. New York is the place I keep going back to, for family and friends, and because I already know I will miss something if I rush it.
There is always something new, but returning to a familiar street is part of the pleasure.I’ve lived in both Europe and the United States, and I do not look at them the same way.In Europe, I watch for history in a street or a building. In the US, I watch for scale, contrast, and the pace of a city.
Both give me reasons to return.Beyond New York, my trips take on a different rhythm: California’s coastal roads, the vineyards of Napa and Sonoma, or a few days in one city on foot.
These USA itineraries come from those trips. Along the way, I share what I would give more time to, what I would skip, and what I would do differently.
Some are for a first visit. Others assume you already know the obvious stops. Choose the place you actually want to be in, then stay long enough to enjoy it.
Start with the trip that fits. For a city stay, explore my New York itineraries. For a road trip, start with California’s coast. For a few days of food and wine, head to Napa and Sonoma.
